We're Sending Egg Mail!

Egg Mail

How did I not think of this?!

Mailing large plastic Easter eggs for friends and family is like having the cadbury bunny lay an egg in their mailbox but even better LOL. When I ran across the idea here I went to the nearest dollar store to see if I could find eggs big enough to hold a bunch of goodies and accommodate a mailing label that I could write on large enough to be legible.

Two stores later I hit the jackpot! Brightly colored eggs that were a good 7 - 8 inches long and didn't feel to flimsy so that they would be able to take a good knocking around in the mail truck.

Easter Package

We filled them with chocolate, stickers, easter stamps, bunny masks and felted eggs that we had made. Nestled it all in a bit of paper easter grass and taped them tightly shut :)

Watch your mailbox... one of these just may be for you!

4 Haiti with Love

4 Haiti with Love

I know that you all remember the horrific destruction that left Haiti in shambles after the massive earthquake that hit them on January 12th of this year. Despite the lack of news coverage in the months since the height of the crisis there are still so many people there that are struggling every day.

4 Haiti with Love

So when my uncle told me that he was returning to Haiti with the Global Aid Network (GAIN) I knew that it was our chance to do something for the children even if it was something as small as sending little notebooks with stickers and crayons.

notebooks

So the kids got busy cutting fun papers to make our plain old dollar store notebooks look really pretty, added some cute little stickers...

and I started measuring and sewing lengths of elastic into loops that would securely hold crayons inside them.

4 Haiti with Love

I had seen this project done on another blog and it was such a great idea. So I measured out a 6.5 inch piece of elastic for the piece that would wrap right around the notebook and marked 6 lines on it in the center that were spaced 1/2 an inch apart. Then on a smaller 4.5 inch piece of elastic I marked another 6 lines on it that were 3/4 of an inch apart. Placing the shorter piece of elastic on top of the longer piece I just matched up the lines, sewed, and created the little loops. I then attached the two ends of the longer piece together to make the band complete.

With the elastic loops complete we were ready to place one on each of the notebooks...

and start filling them up with crayons. The measurements worked out perfectly and the crayons were nice and snug in each of the loops.

4 Haiti with Love

Each of the children wrote special little messages inside of the notebooks and they were ready to get packaged up and shipped.

4 Haiti with Love

Luggage space was limited so we made 50 sets of the notebooks which ended up filling one of the giant warehouse sized cereal boxes and boy was it heavy!

We shipped it today and it will be on its way to Haiti with my uncle very soon and into the hands of the children that he and his fellow medics help during their stay. I pray that they will bring many smiles to the faces of the little ones :)

Special Project

Special Project

The children and I are working on an extra special project but they begged me not to tell you exactly what it is just yet since we're not quite done. They never said that I couldn't give you a little teaser though *grin*.

Special Project

We've been busy little bees cutting scrapbook papers...

Special Project

portioning out special stickers...

Special Project

A Little Love for Pippibean

pippibean magnet set

A couple of weeks ago I got swept up in a 'Sneak Attack' hosted by Handmade Movement as both an attackee and an attacker and all I can say is fun!! One of the shops that was featured along with myself at the same time was pippibean and she sells some of the cutest Kawaii trinkets and the other day I finally got my little packet in the mail that I bought from her :) Inside was a great little set of 3 magnets, don't they look good enough to eat!?

pippibean extras

Along with my little magnet set from pippibean was this super cute little box of extras!! Little stickers, another magnet & a great little pink striped resin ring all tucked inside a miniature handmade box complete with a little plastic viewing window. So fun!!

I love getting things in the mail but pippibean definitely makes ordering from her super fun :)
