Pictures Around The Farm ~ Spring Has Sprung

crocus

Just when I thought that we would escape any form of winter this year it went and tried to snow today! Thankfully it was only a dusting of snow and the rain & wind quickly swept it away but it is icy cold out there and it's threatening all of the signs of spring that are popping up everywhere :)

I've been sewing up bundles of my reusable cloth snack & sandwich bags for the last couple of days to fill the larger orders that came in earlier this week and I always find that when you know you have to do it you can think of a million other things that need doing *grin*. So now that I got the last of them shipped off today I can't wait to tackle the new spring dress I'm working on for my daughter!

It's a really cute jumper pattern but I'm adding in a couple of pleats to both the front and backside of it and sewing in a bright contrasting fabric inside the pleats. It's a challenge as I've never done it before but I've bot my pleats measured out and figured how much fabric I'm going to need for my contrast colors and it has been calling my name :)

rhubarb

Besides dreaming of sewing projects I've been planning my new raised bed that hubby is going to make for me and a new potato bed that I want to create :) The tomato seeds are in need of planting and by the end of the month I'll be able to get my broccoli started and soon after plant the peas outdoors. Time is moving swiftly!

We found the rhubarb in the above photo is starting to poke through the mulch again and all of the plum & apple trees are coming out in leaves already. If the snow and frozen weather holds off a little while longer we just might have a bumper crop of fruit this year as there a tons of bees buzzing around just itching to get some pollinating done *grin*.

the helper

I just love this last photo :) My son was fixing his bike the other day and the darn cat just wouldn't leave him alone. Nothing like a furry helper getting in the way!

What's sprouting and blooming around your home right now?

Photos around the farm

Around the farm

It was a lazy day around here today. Just a bunch of housework and I didn't really think that you wanted to see pictures of me buried under the Mount Everest sized pile of laundry so I thought I'd share some recent photos that I took around our property :)

Weathered old fence posts still standing strong despite their outward condition. They've got character now and so much more interesting with their lumps of moss.

Around the farm

The old cattle truck in its final resting place behind the chicken coop. It's becoming one with nature as the moss, vines and trees grow in around it.

Around the farm

The most beautiful red berries along the trail to the bottom field. They were everywhere amongst the fallen maple leaves and ferns.

Around the farm

Random piles of elk droppings throughout the fields from the fence crashing intrusive beasts. Such beautiful animals to see but oh so destructive. They can rip up a wet field in spring with their hooves and graze down all the grass in summer in the blink of an eye.

Have a lovely weekend!

Flickr Favorites ~ Red Joy

1. Crochet Mushroom, 2. Red Hangers Arow, 3. Yayoi Kusama "Ascension of Polkadots on the trees", 4. red + white

The other day one of my market totes was featured in the most amazing red polka dot treasury and it was so bright and lively that it just made you want to smile. So I thought I'd put together some of my favorite red polka dot photos to bring a little 'red joy' to you :) Perfect for the dreary gray days of winter! I must say that I would love to wrap some trees with polka dotted paper. Wouldn't it be so striking in the dead of winter with snow on the ground to run into trees like that?! Something that perhaps you would find in Alice in Wonderland :) Enjoy.

Wabi Sabi Green Etsy Treasury

Wabi Sabi Green Treasury, originally uploaded by Crafty Nature.

Wow!! I can't believe it, I got picked for another Etsy treasury! That is so cool :) This one was put together by Prairie Garden. There are over 170,000 sellers on Etsy and somehow my little photo of the moss and lichen fencepost (2nd row center) has caught the attention of quite a few people. Now if only I could make a sale! *grin*.

Some Of My Favorite Nature Photos

Nature Photo Collage

I am completely crazy about nature and taking photos, but I think I've found a way to do both and share some of it with you as well :) I just finished having a bunch of my recent favorites printed up on acid free & archival safe paper and put them into my Etsy shop ~ RosyUndPosy :) Now they won't be just collecting dust in the photo albums on the book shelf, plus it makes hubby happy to see that all that happy snapping I do every day is bringing a little nature joy to others as well *grin*.
