A Big Thank You & Giveaway

Reusable Cloth Sandwich Bags

My reusable cloth bags have been so well received that I am in utter shock and to my continued amazement I've been picked up by quite a few different bloggers who have so very generously shared about me :) I'm not sure how they even found little old me *grin* but thank you so much!!

I joined Etsy in the middle of February and actually didn't even make my first sale until the end of March and found it hard to wrap my mind around how I was going to draw attention to my shop with over 170,000 other fantastic sellers to choose from. Somehow though they have found me and I am so thankful that they have :)

The latest little bit of publicity is from the great gals at Glimpse-Reviews where Canadian moms review Canadian products. You can check it out at:

and try your luck in the draw for a free cloth snack bag courtesy of me :) Good luck!

Nature Preservation Badges

Ecology Badges

I found these great sew on badges today at the fabric store and I just had to share them with all of you. Aren't they fantastic?! I'm all for anything that promotes saving nature so I had to get them *grin*. I think I'm going to sew them onto the kids' jackets or maybe I'll do something on a t-shirt for each of the.... hmm, not sure but I'll come up with something :) Fun!

Garden Fever

garden 2009

It has finally warmed up enough here to start planting the garden, hooray!! It's hard to believe that we have only been snow free for 3 weeks but the bitter cold frosty mornings are still hanging on :) My oldest two are really into the garden this year and want to help out with ever aspect which is wonderful. I hope the enthusiasm holds out through the weeding season! LOL.

When we were down island last week I cheated a bit and picked up some veggie starter packs to plant along with our seedlings to give us a bit of an earlier harvest on some of the veggies. The kids picked out cabbage, broccoli, artichokes, lettuce and some sweet peas to grow up the garden fence.

Teamwork, you gotta love it! One to scoop the horse manure into the holes and another to plunk in the plants :)

And what would a day of digging in the dirt be without worms! Thank goodness there was no taste testing. Well there may have been a little dirt munching at one point, but definitely no worms made it into my 3 year olds mouth :) Now we just have to keep the slugs at bay until we can plant our warmer crops after May 24th. The danger of any frost will have passed by then and I am so looking forward to beans.

My Budding Artist

K's tug painting2

My son is crazy about drawing and painting and since last September he has been going once a week to the 4 Cats Art Academy where they get to experiment with all sorts of different medias while learning about different artists and drawing/painting techniques. He loves it!

K's tug painting

For Christmas we got him a bunch of canvases so that he could paint whenever he felt the urge to do so and his most recent one is a copy of a photo we took of his dad's tug boat at the wharf flanked by other tug boats. I may be biased but I think his pencil drawn copy of it is amazing!!

This afternoon he started to paint it and as it happened this week in his art class he learned about blending colors to make it look like the different shades of water. It was perfect timing to help him with the reflecton portion of his painting. I can't wait to see his progress tomorrow :)
